Article from Racer X 10.12.04 |
Race Report
When: 2/26/2006
What: SRAC Motocross race
Where: Colorado Springs, Co.
Conditions: It was in the 40's in the morning, warming up to the low 50's by noon. The track was still frozen in the morning, but thawed sometime around 1:00. It was smooth with very few bumps, and one or two ruts. The dirt was as hard cement all day.
Finishes:
I had a couple of mishaps in the first turn that had me charging from last place.
There was 17 to 32 rider in all three pro classes.
So in those moto's I came back to 6th in both leaving me with
5th overall open pro and 6th overall 250 pro.
The 125 gate had the most riders all day, 32 entries.
I started about 7th and within 4 laps passed for 1st place.
From there on I pulled out a 15 sec. lead.
|
When: 2/19/2006
What: WORCS National
Where: Taft, Ca.
Conditions:
It was mid 60's most of the day, the sun was in and out all day.
The track was the roughest thing I'd ever seen, giant square edge
bumps filled the track from side to side.
There was a huge uphill that tested your endurance every lap.
The dirt was hard packed with a few dusty spots.
Finishes:
I finished a disappointed 14th.
I struggled with arm pump till almost the half-way mark, finally shaking that
I started to pass some people back until a 4th gear swap put me on the ground
and in the pits.
It only took a short time to fix the bike, but valuable time was lost.
|
When: 2/5/2006
What: SRAC Motocross race
Where: Pueblo, Co.
Conditions: The temperature was in the low 40's, and it had winds up
to about 25 mph. The track was actually very rough, large potholes and
square edged bumps covered it. It dried out, but all in all they did a
good job prepping it.
Finishes: I raced both the 250, and 125 pro classes, and won every
moto. I even pulled off a holeshot in the 250 2ND moto.
All of my starts
were in the top 3! In the 125 class I had over a 10 sec. lead over 2ND
place. in both moto's.
Thank you for all of your help
Matt Karlsen
